Nigel Franklin’s journey into engineering and business began with a passion for precision and performance. As a qualified engineer and car enthusiast, he recognised the demand for specialised aftermarket parts - particularly for performance vehicles like Nissan, Mazda, and Toyota - where many of the required components were either difficult to find or simply didn’t exist. In 2006, with this vision in mind, Franklin Engineering was born out of Nigel’s humble garage.

Starting with just a handful of custom-made parts - photographed on his kitchen bench - Nigel created his first online store. His original head oil drain fitting for Nissan RB engines became an instant success, and word quickly spread among fellow car enthusiasts. As demand grew, so did the business, evolving into what is now Franklin Performance, one of New Zealand’s leading manufacturers of aftermarket car parts. Today, Nigel and his team of skilled engineers run a modern CNC machining facility in Hawke's Bay, shipping custom-made parts worldwide to a loyal customer base.
